We have to prepare for the worst and the worst is war

On 16 August 2007, Bernard Kouchner, the French Foreign Minister, was quoted thus in Le Figaro:

"We have to prepare for the worst and the worst is war."
Kouchner, who was threatening Iran, added:

"Iran does whatever it pleases in Iraq ... One cannot find in the entire world a crisis greater than this one."
I guess if Nikolas Sarkozy had been French President in March 2003, a lot of French lads would have been sent home in body bags as well. I wonder why Sarkozy chose Kouchner as his first Foreign Minister? I don't suppose it had anything to do with the fact that they both have a Jewish parent.
