They are all enemy combatants

You know how we’re always supposed to think of the Jews as eternal victims who never did any harm to anyone?

Well, perhaps you better check this out:

On 1 July 2014, Member of the Israeli Knesset and Chair of the Jewish Home Party, Ayelet Shaked, posted this on her Facebook page:

“This is an article by the late Uri Elitzur, which was written 12 years ago… It is as relevant today as it was at the time. ‘The Palestinian people has declared war on us, and we must respond with war… This is a war between two people. Who is the enemy? The Palestinian people…

What’s so horrifying about understanding that the entire Palestinian people is the enemy?… In wars the enemy is usually an entire people, including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure…

Behind every terrorist stand dozens of men and women, without whom he could not engage in terrorism… They are all enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads. Now this also includes the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They should follow their sons, nothing would be more just. They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there.”

Uri Elitzur, to whom Ms Shaked refers, was leader of the settler movement and a speechwriter and close advisor to Benjamin Netanyahu. Anyway, here we have a member of the Israel Knesset advocating the slaughter of ‘an entire people… its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure.’ Not forgetting ‘the mothers,’ who, apparently, are responsible for raising a lot of those oh-so-treadable-upon ‘little snakes.’

And the Jewish MP in question isn’t exactly the gnarled, old, insurrectionary snarler of King David Hotel days, is she? She’s a pretty, young woman, intelligent and capable enough to have made it into the Knesset at 36.

This is what the Talmud breeds, ladies and gentlemen. Here is the Jew that has, anually, throughout the millennia, celebrated the massacre of Haman and his many innocent followers, on the feast of Purim. Here is the casual Israeli slaughterer in all her misbegotten glory. The psychopath unchained and in command.

Here’s another psychopath. 

Perhaps this one took the sentiments Ms Shaked identifies with here to heart and then gaily carried them out on the devastated streets of Gaza.

So, an unarmed civilian searching for loved ones amongst the rubble of his neighbourhood, alongside some very recognisable non-combatant civil defence volunteers looking for casualties, is shot by a sniper. Then, as he lies there, he is shot again. And then again.

I guess this is what Uri Elitzur and his Knesset groupie, Ayalet Shaked, were thinking of when they spoke of ‘enemy combatants’ whose ‘blood shall be on all their heads.’

Just in case you’re about to call me anti-Semitic (this old, much-favoured bogey world was invented as far back as 1867 by one Moritz Steinschneider), here’s a word from a Jewish gent I like a lot.

On 3 June 2014, syndictaed columnist and radio host, Stephen Lendman, applauded the newly formed Palestinian unity government at his blog:

“It's official. Its called ‘national reconciliation government.’ On Monday, Palestinian ministers were ceremonially sworn in… After Monday's swearing in ceremony, (Mahmoud) Abbas said:

‘Today, with the formation of a national consensus government, we announce the end of a Palestinian division that has greatly damaged our national case. This black page in the history has been turned forever, and we will not allow it to come back’…

Hamas leader Israel Haniyeh called Palestinian unity ‘historic.’ Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri praised ‘national consensus government, which represents all the Palestinian people.’

Netanyahu didn't surprise. His comments turned truth on its head. ‘Abbas said yes to terror, not peace,’ he claimed. ‘It is the direct continuation of policy to refuse peace, while Israel has made courageous and painful steps for the political process and remains committed to peace…

Hamas leaders have reiterated their commitment to terrorism and the destruction of Israel. The agreement with Hamas transfers to Abbas direct responsibility for terrorism from Gaza’…

Israel's security cabinet vowed to hold PA officials responsible for Gazan rocket fire. It's virtually never preemptive. It follows Israeli air, ground and/or sea attacks. It's legitimate self-defense. Israel calls it terrorism…

National reconciliation government followed heavy Arab pressure. Most Palestinians support it. So do most Western leaders. Israel ‘invested great effort in foiling diplomatic negotiations,’ said Haaretz (Israeli daily newspaper) editors…

Its ‘refusal to recognize this government is liable to portray it once again as the party refusing to give the diplomatic channel a chance… If Israel had recognized the Palestinian government that was elected in 2006, or had cooperated with the Palestinian unity government that was established afterward, we would have been spared numerous casualties on both sides,’ they added…

ISRAEL DEPLORES PEACE AND STABILITY. SO DOES WASHINGTON. Rogue states operate this way. They risk regional conflicts. Perhaps global war. Extremist policies head inexorably toward igniting it…

ENEMIES ARE INVENTED WHEN NONE EXIST. Advancing imperial priorities matters most. Doing so involves eliminating all rivals. War on humanity follows. Doing so risks destroying it altogether. LUNATICS INFEST WASHINGTON AND ISRAEL. They risk the unthinkable. They do it mindlessly. They do it recklessly.

Palestinian unity is a chance for a new direction. Disrupting it risks the worst of all possible outcomes.” 

Professor Emeritus of international law at Princeton University, Richard Falk, whom I also respect, said this when interviewed recently:

"ISRAEL PERIODICALLY 'MOWS THE GRASS' in Gaza as one right-wing Israeli advisor to Sharon distastefully expressed THE GOAL OF ISRAEL POLICY TOWARD GAZA several years ago. There were factors present in the context of this Israeli attack that help explain why now.

The main two factors in my view were THE UNWELCOME ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INTERIM 'UNITY GOVERNMENT' ON JUNE 2 BY THE LEADERSHIP OF FATAH AND HAMAS, which undermined the Israeli approach of keeping the governing authorities in the West Bank and Gaza AS DIVIDED AS POSSIBLE.

The second element was Israel's strong incentive to weaken Hamas in the West Bank so that Israel could justify its moves in April to end direct negotiations with the Palestinian Authority and move ever closer to INCORPORATING THE WEST BANK, OR MOST OF IT INTO ISRAEL, AND FULFILL THE EXPANSIONIST ZIONIST DREAM to move beyond the 1967 borders.

The June 12 kidnapping incident involving the three teenage settler children from the Gush Etzion settlement near Jerusalem provided the Netanyahu government with the pretext it needed to mount an anti-Hamas campaign that started as a supposed hunt for the perpetrators, detaining up to 500 suspected of a Hamas connection and generally imposing a variety of oppressive measures, including house demolition, lockdowns of Palestinian towns, and random violence that led to six Palestinian deaths.

As has been shown, THE INCIDENT WAS MANIPULATED IN A MOST CYNICAL FASHION BY THE GOVERNMENT pretending to search for the kidnapped youth, while knowing that they were already dead, using public anxiety and anger to incite the Israeli citizenry to justify the oppressive tactics of the government and to create an atmosphere of vigilante vengeance."

 Here is the real reason for the latest Israeli slaughterfest.

Netanyahu et al just cannot abide it when their ‘divide and conquer’ strategy comes unstuck. To see those they have marked down as their enemies united is anathema.

Gaza is being destroyed (again) as both a punishment of Hamas and the Gazan people and a warning to Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinians of the West Bank. 'Unity with your kinfolk is verboten! If you do not disassociate yourselves from these you can expect the same treatment!'

As Ayelet Shaked says,

‘This is a war between two people,’ one of which is armed with F111 warplanes, helicopter gunships, tanks, drones and the A-Bomb, whist the other must make do with fireworks.

“They risk the unthinkable. They do it mindlessly!”

The unthinkable is thought when the mindless headcase thinks it. On a global scale the unthinkable is now so often acted upon because, in the corridors of elite, supranational power, lunacy of the most demoniacally vainglorious kind, is now institutionalised.

Ayelet Shaked’s exhortation to make war upon ‘an entire people’ has since been removed from her Facebook page.

But not before it had received more than 1,000 likes.
