"Almost two-thirds of the country’s million-pound earners disappeared from Britain after the introduction of the 50p top rate of tax... In the 2009-10 tax year, more than 16,000 people declared an annual income of more than £1 million to HM Revenue and Customs. This number fell to just 6,000 after Gordon Brown introduced the new 50p top rate of income tax."Thus, we must presume, the fat cat will only stick around if the system is rigged in his favour. Those the establishment cares for most will only stay if they are allowed to continue hogging much more of the country's cake than they should.
This asocietal sefishness is what was pandered to so fanatically by Thatcher, her 'theory of market-forces' advisors and Nigel Lawson, her 'Big Bang' Chancellor. This is what Blair AND his Chancellor, despite the tone of the linked article, continued to pander to.
This is what brought about sub prime, the credit crunch, the consequent recessions and all our present economic woes.
There is no love of or loyalty to country here. Here be twenty first century dragons. Here be the anti-patriots who call the self-interested shots in the Global Village. Here be the rich set whose money moves mountains in somebody else's back yard. Whose money buys global influence and indigenous chaos wherever it is spent.
Iraq? Afghanistan? Libya? Syria? Iran? Our real enemies leave the country when it looks like they may be forced to part with too much of their ill-gotten gain. Never mind, eh? As soon as ever their pet politicians fix the leaking trough, they'll be back.
